![]() ![]() Auburn is looking to hire a new offensive coordinator after Mike Bobo was fired on Monday. What is often lost in such changes is the ripple effect the hirings and firings will have among staffs at schools across the country. Rhett Lashlee, the former Auburn offensive coordinator who had the same position at Miami, is the new head coach at SMU. Alabama, in turn, hired some guy named Nick Saban. Rich Rod was offered the head coaching job at Alabama back in 2007 and declined. Perhaps missed in all this is that Rich Rodriguez is finally going to coach in Alabama he was hired Monday as the new head coach at Jacksonville State, leaving his position as offensive coordinator at Louisiana-Monroe on Terry Bowden’s staff. And where will Mullen land? Will he be hired as a head coach at one of the vacancies being created? Or will he end up as an offensive coordinator at a school or the NFL? Maybe an offensive analyst on Saban’s staff, awaiting his next opportunity? The Gators won the bidding war with LSU for Napier, or so it has been reported. It seems the right SEC offer finally came around for Louisiana’s Billy Napier, who will take over the Florida Gators program after Dan Mullen’s firing. Penn State locks down James Franklin with more time and money - in a 7-5 season, coming off a 4-5 season - in the same week his Nittany Lions would lose to Tucker’s Michigan State team.īob Stoops is coming back to coach Oklahoma in its bowl game - will he stay on after that? Will Tennessee have another one-and-done situation and lose Josh Heupel to his alma mater as happened with Lane Kiffin to USC a while back? That wide.Īlong the way on this journey, some coaches have received raises and extensions in an effort by their schools to prevent another school from hiring them away - Mel Tucker’s Michigan State team is slammed hard by Ohio State and a couple of days later he signs his 10-year, $95 million contract. In that case, he’s smiling wide - we’re talking like he just won the Iron Bowl in quadruple overtime, come-from-behind fashion. It was reported Kelly is receiving a monster salary that would cause even Nick Saban to do a double take - unless, of course, he has a clause in his Alabama contract that says he’ll always be the highest-paid head coach in the country. The successful and internationally recognized secessions of Eritrea and South Sudan appear to have had few repercussions in terms of extending secessionist tendencies in their immediate neighborhood. Then came Monday, with LSU seeming like it was going to be the school left standing without a big-name coach when the music stopped in this version of musical chairs, only to name drop in a big way with the hiring of Notre Dame’s Brian Kelly. The partitions in Ethiopia and Sudan were a result of intertwined local, national, and international level politics in which combinations of internal and external strategic interests were paramount. Partition compromises the central government's dominant position in the political system relative to that of the regional governments, provinces, and autonomous territories. However, despite its significance to the state system, and the prevalence of separatist armed conflicts since World War II, the study of partition of states drew little attention until the break-up of the Soviet Union and Yugoslavia in the early 1990s. This chapter discusses the partition of existing states as a conflict resolution remedy, and explains the aftermath of the separation of Eritrea and the secession of South Sudan in their respective rump states, Ethiopia and Sudan.
